Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the creative process of art making as a mode for self-expression, in addition to verbal communication. Art making allows for thoughts and feelings to be creatively expressed that may otherwise be difficult to articulate with words. While engaging with the creative process in a therapeutic space, individuals may gain an increased sense of self-awareness and understanding; gain new perspectives on a problem; alleviate symptoms and stress; enhance cognitive abilities; and experience relaxation and the enjoyment of making art. The act of creating supports emotional, physical and psychological well-being.
